Texture, depth, and finish without flattening the work.

Varve's Image Treatments are editable effects on the rendered result. Use them for photo adjustment or to give an otherwise flat vector object a considered, material finish while its original geometry and opacity stay intact.

A focused toolkit

Use the name that describes the result.

Fine Texture

Accentuate or soften fine surface detail while protecting smooth areas.

Local Contrast

Separate medium-sized forms without relying on a global contrast slider.

Atmospheric Depth

Shape broad local depth without mislabelling it as haze removal.

Dehaze

Recover contrast through a distinct local atmospheric-veil model.

Vignette

Darken or brighten object edges with controllable feather, shape, and centre.

Grain

Control amount, size, roughness, and deterministic pattern variation.

Highlight Glow

Turn bright or mid-tone areas into a soft, luminous halo.

One underlying model

Choose a local filter or a scoped adjustment.

Image Tuning is the quick photo surface for selected images. Object Filters attach an ordered treatment stack to one rendered object. Adjustment Layers apply the same operators to a chosen scope and can use an adjustment mask.

For vector work too

Finish a gray rectangle without turning it into pixels.

Select the rectangle, open Design/Properties → Object Filters, then use Object Finishing cards to add Grain, Vignette, or Highlight Glow. A gray rectangle at 50% opacity remains a gray rectangle at 50% opacity; the treatment is an editable node-local filter on its rendered result.

The redesigned Object Filters panel organizes all 52 filters across five clear families—Color & Tone, Blur & Detail, Texture & Finishing, Atmosphere & Optics, and Color Grading—with instant search, one-click whole-stack bypass in the section header, live blend mode badges, and an elevated compositing card for rapid non-destructive iteration.

Local-first performance

A lighter preview is still an honest edit.

On constrained browser devices, active sliders and navigation take priority over background thumbnails and speculative work. Varve coalesces stale preview requests, keeps the latest state authoritative, and refines after the gesture settles. Export uses the requested final quality rather than whichever preview scale was most recent.

Treatments remain local and editable. Browser model features are optional and lazy; unsupported or memory-limited paths explain the fallback instead of uploading the artwork or silently replacing a committed result. Read how performance modes work.
