Product description

Free to quote or adapt. Both versions are current as of this page.

One sentence

Varve is a free, local-first design suite for vector, layout, typography, motion, prototyping, and print production, running natively on Linux, macOS, and Windows.

One paragraph

Varve is in public beta: installers are published for Linux, macOS, and Windows. Core features work, but the file format and interfaces can still change and rough edges remain. Varve combines vector design, page layout, typography, animation, prototyping, and print production in a single application and a single document model. Core editing works offline and requires no account or cloud sync; optional network features such as model downloads and update checks are explicit and consent-based. Varve is source-available under FSL-1.1-MIT and is built in the open.

Logo and wordmark

These are the current approved marks. Earlier gradient marks and any asset carrying the retired "Strata" name are not approved for use.

Usage guidance

  • Keep clear space around the mark equal to the height of the "V".
  • Do not recolour, rotate, outline, add effects to, or redraw the marks.
  • Do not place the standard wordmark on a background that leaves it low-contrast — use the dark or single-colour variant instead.
  • Do not imply endorsement, partnership, or sponsorship by using the marks.
